About Josefina – Josefina Montoya is a nine-year-old growing up on a rancho in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which wasn’t yet a state in 1824 — it was still a part of Mexico. It’s been a year since her mother died, but Josefina, her Papa and her three older sisters — Ana, Francisca and Clara — are all carrying on, coping with their sadness and loss.
