As part of our Shine On Now™ charitable efforts, American Girl is donating $1 (up to a maximum of $100,000) for every Kanani plush monk seal sold in 2011 to National Wildlife Federation® to help raise awareness of endangered animals like the Hawaiian monk seal.

Arianna recently found us all info on the new GOTV 2011.    Finally with all the guessing going around we have a picture and a name, Kanani!  Kanani Akina our new GOTY for 2011 is Hawaiian.   Looks like Kanani is a beauty.   From the looks of the book cover she has golden brown brown hair with natural highlights, light brown eyes or maybe hazel.. medium skin tone…. ok,  too early to speculate from a picture.     As soon as we get more information we will let you all know.   Shoot us an email if you have any leads. 

There are 2 books, Aloha Kanani and Good Job Kanani written by Lisa Yee author of Good Luck Ivy.  The books can be preordered at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Kanani has a cousin Rachel who visits from New York  for a month and Kanani shares her Hawaiian fun lifestyle in the tropics from eating shaved ice to snorkeling with sea turtles.   Her cousin Rachel gets homesick and Kanani tries hard to help Rachel feel at home and have fun, but nothing seems to work until an urgent animal rescue on the beach brings the girls together.   Just when things are going smooth between the girls, a silly mistake threatens their fragile friendship. Kanani feels awful and longs to reconnect with Rachel but before she can truly help her cousin, Kanani herself must learn the real meaning of the aloha spirit.

Her second books mentions a friend Aroline, although still not much info on the book yet.

I can’t wait to see the doll up close.  She looks beautiful!   I think I see a slight resemble in Jess.
